RUNGKUT – After its campus in Jl. Kalirungkut and Jl. Ngagel Jaya Selatan, tomorrow Universitas Surabaya (Ubaya) will have new campus. That campus III is located in Trawas, Mojokerto.

Ubaya campus III is an integrated outdoor campus (IOC). According to Ubaya Rector, Prof Wibisono Hardjopranoto, IOC is different with the previous 2 campuses. In IOC, Ubaya will combine indoor and outdoor concept. “In general, we will integrate 2 activities on our campus III,” he said yesterday.

The 2 activities are higher education activities that strive to The Three Services of Higher Education, both theory & practice as well as business activities managed by foundation in cooperation with local community.

The IOC campus consists of Ubaya Training Center (UTC) that stands on 1.5 hectare land area. UTC is a residential complex used to facilitate and conduct various training modules. It consists of barracks and cottages, discussion rooms, camping ground, multi-function hall, canteen, and amphitheatre. “All UTC facilities can be used for training facilities,” he said.

In addition to that, IOC has 6 hectare snake fruit garden area that is also planted with papaya, banana, durian, and sengon. “We also assist local community,” he added. The local community residents were taught to be a good snake fruit farmer aims to increase their welfare.

Last but not least, The IOC Grand Launching will be done by Dr. H. Soekarwo as Governor of East Java through an inscription signing. Not only that, all invited guests will be invited to witness snake fruit garden area in IOC.
